International Workers’ Day: 1 May
Every year International Workers’ Day is celebrated on 1 May worldwide. This day is dedicated to laborers.
The celebration of International Workers’ Day is considered to have started from May 1, 1886, when the American labor unions went on strike to keep the work hours no longer than 8 hours.
During this strike there was a bomb blast in Chicago’s Haymarket.
As a result, the police opened fire on the workers and killed seven workers.
Subsequently, in 1889, the International Socialist Conference announced that May 1 would be celebrated as International Labor Day, in commemoration of the Haymarket event, and that this day would be a holiday for all workers and workers.
With this, the foundation to set 8 hours for work in all countries of the world, including India, was laid.
In India, this day was first started on 1 May 1923 in Chennai.

NATO launches defender Europe – 21 military exercises
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has started a joint military exercise “Defender-Europe 21” in Albania, with thousands of military forces from the US and other countries taking part.
The practice is an annual US-led multinational practice.

American astronaut and Apollo-11 pilot Michael Collins passed away
Apollo-11 mission pilot and astronaut Michael Collins passed away at the age of 90.
It was only after the Apollo-11 mission landed on the moon in 1969 that Neil Armstrong made his first move to the lunar surface and landed on Buzz Aldrin.
The lunar module from which these two astronauts reached Apollo-11 to the moon was named ‘The Eagle’.

The birth anniversary of Tegh Bahadur, the 9th Guru of Sikhs, is being celebrated on 1 May.
This is his 400th festival of light.
Guru Tegh Bahadur was born in the year 1621 in Amritsar.
His father was Guru Hargobind and Mataji Nanaki.
His father Guru Hargobind was the 6th Guru of the Sikhs.
Guru Tegh Bahadur Singh’s childhood name is said to be Tyagmal.
In the year 1665, he created the city of Anandpur Sahib.
Anandpur Sahib is a historic city located in the Rupnagar district of the state of Punjab.
1675 Guru Tegh Bahadur was sentenced to death by Mughal ruler Aurangzeb.
A gurudwara has been built in memory of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji at his ‘Shaheedi Sthal’ in Delhi, which is named as Gurdwara ‘Sheesh Ganj Sahib’.

DRDO successfully tests Python-5 air to air missile
The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) successfully test-fired its indigenous Light Combat Aircraft Tejas aircraft air-to-air (AAM) 5th generation Python-5 missile in Goa.
The Python-5 air-to-air missile (AAM) is built by Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defense System and is one of the world’s most state-of-the-art guided missiles.

Popular TV journalist and news anchor Rohit Sardana has died at the age of 42 from a heart attack following a corona infection.
Rohit Sardana was awarded the Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Award in the year 2018 for outstanding journalism.
Rohit was originally from Haryana and studied journalism from Guru Jambeshwar University in Kurukshetra.
Sardana was associated with Zee News since 2004 before moving to Aaj Tak in 2017.
