World Laughter Day is celebrated all over the world on the first Sunday of May.
In the year 2021, this day was celebrated on 2 May.
World Comedy Day began in 1998.
The credit for its introduction goes to Dr. Madan Kataria, the founder of Laughter Yoga Movement, known as ‘Guru of Giggling’.
He celebrated World Laughter Day for the first time in Mumbai on 11 January 1998.

Theme of World Press Freedom Day 2021: “Information as a public good”
In 1993, the General Assembly of the United Nations organized this day for the first time.
The Guillermo Kano World Press Freedom Prize is also given on World Press Freedom Day.
This award is given to a person or institution who has done remarkable work for the freedom of the press.
India is again at 142nd position in the recently released ‘World Press Freedom Index’ of 2021 of 180 countries.
Freedom of the press in India is ensured only by the fundamental right to freedom of expression given to Indians in Article -19 of the Indian Constitution.

Nripendra Mishra, former Principal Secretary to PM Modi, will be honored with Japan’s National Award “Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star 2021”.
He is being given this honor for his significant contribution in strengthening the economic relations of Japan and India.
Indira Mishra, former chairperson of Ikebana International’s Gurgaon Chapter, is the second Indian to receive this honor.
He will receive the ‘Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rage’.
Ikebana is a traditional Japanese art of decorating flowers, in which the flowers, leaves, seeds, twigs and its trunk are attractively decorated in vases, flowerpots, etc.

UK becomes the first country to allow automatic cars

Britain has become the first country in the world to be legally permitted to drive automatic cars on roads.
The UK government has estimated that around 40% of UK cars will have self-driving capability by 2035.
The first change under the new rules will be Automated Lane Keeping Systems (ALKS), through which such sensors and software will be used to allow such cars to brake in their line and reduce or increase the speed as per the requirement.

Naval operation “Samudra Setu-II” to bring oxygen and medical goods from abroad

The Indian Army has launched Operation “Samudra Setu-II” to improve medical supplies.
This operation will assist in meeting the oxygen requirements of the country.
The Navy has deployed its 7 warships in this operation.
These warships include INS Kolkata, Kochi, Talwar, Tabar, Trikand, Jalash and Airavat.
Operation Samudra Setu-I: Operation Samudra Setu-I was launched in May 2020.
It was launched during COVID-19 to bring back Indian nationals from abroad.
