Mark Selby defeated Sean Murphy 18–15 in the final to win the World Snooker Championship 2021.
Selby became the World Championship for the fourth time.
The World Snooker Championship has been held every year since 1927.
Which is held at the Crucible Theater in Sheffield, England.


Maria Resa awarded “UNESCO World Press Freedom Award 2021”

Philippine resident Maria Ressa has been named as the winner of the “UNESCO World Press Freedom Award 2021”.
The award is also known as the ‘Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Award’.
The award is named after Colombian journalist Guillermo Cano Isaja.

Congo Country Announces Liberation From ‘Ebola Virus’

The Democratic Republic of Congo has announced the end of the 12th outbreak of Ebola virus disease on 3 May.
6 people died in the eastern province of North Kivu due to Ebola.
The Ebola virus was first discovered in 1976, near the Ebola River (now the Democratic Republic of Congo). Since then, the virus has gripped many African countries.
The virus arrives from animals to humans and through human-to-human interaction makes a large number of people prey on them.

‘Wipro’ becomes the third largest Indian IT company

Indian company Wipro (Rs 2.65 trillion market capitalization) has regained its position as the third largest Indian IT services company, surpassing HCL Tech (Rs 2.62 trillion market capitalization).
TCS tops the list after Infosys with a market capitalization of Rs 11.51 trillion.

Stratolaunch Company Completes Flight Test of World’s Largest Airplane ‘Roc’

The world’s largest airplane, built by the US-based aerospace company Stratolaunch, has completed its second test flight.
It is named “Roc” (named after a giant bird).
The wingspan of this aircraft is 385 ft (117 m).
It is more than an American football field.
The first test flight of this airplane was done in April 2019.
The Stratolaunch company was founded in 2011 by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen.

Corona’s new ‘strain N440K’ found in Andhra Pradesh

Recently a new variant of the corona virus has appeared. The name of which is ‘AP Strain’, that is, this variant has been discovered in the city of Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh.
AP strain is being called ‘N440K’ variant in scientific language.
Scientists at the Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) have discovered this variant.
According to scientists, this variant is 15 times more infectious.
Due to this virus people are getting sick in just three to four days.
This variant is more powerful than the B1.617 (double mutants) and B1.618 (triple mutants) variants.
Recently a ‘triple mutant’ variant of the corona virus was discovered in West Bengal.
Which is also known as ‘Bengal strain’.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Jagmohan passed away

Former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Jagmohan Malhotra has passed away at the age of 94.
Jagmohan held the post of Governor of Jammu and Kashmir twice. He held this post from 1984 to 1989 and again from January to May in 1990.
Apart from this, he also worked as the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Goa and Daman-Diu.
In 1998, he served as the Minister of Urban Development and Tourism in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.
He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1971, the Padma Bhushan in 1977 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2016.


Armed forces start operation “CO-JEET” for mental health of Covid patients

The Armed Forces have launched Operation “CO-JEET” for strengthening the medical system and oxygen supply chains in India as well as for the mental health of covid patients.
Lieutenant General Dr. Madhuri Kanitkar, Deputy Chief of the Integrated Defense Staff (Medical), who is the third woman to become a Three Star General in the Armed Forces, is working to strategize and monitor relief to COVID-19 patients.

6-year ban on former Sri Lankan cricketer Nuwan Zoysa

Former Sri Lankan fast bowler and coach Nuwan Joesa has been banned from all types of cricket for 6 years for violating the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.
Joysa was temporarily suspended on 31 October 2018.
