He is the first recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in the year 1901.
The Red Cross institution has received the Nobel Peace Prize three times (1917,1944,1963).

Theme of World Thalassemia Day 2021 “Addressing Health Inequalities Across the Global Thalassemia Community
Thalassemia is a permanent blood disorder.
It is a genetic disorder that causes insufficient hemoglobin in a patient’s red blood particles (RBCs).
This causes anemia and patients need to be given blood every two to three weeks to survive.

DMK chief Stalin sworn in as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) President Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on 7 May.
Governor Banwari Lal Purohit administered the oath of office and secrecy to Stalin.
Stalin, 68, is the son of the late five-time Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, the late M. Karunanidhi, and became the Chief Minister for the first time.
The DMK-led coalition won 159 seats while DMK alone won 133 seats in the 234-member assembly.


India’s first ‘drive in vaccination center’ inaugurated in Mumbai

On May 4, the country’s first ‘Drive in Vaccination Center’ in Mumbai was inaugurated by MP Rahul Shewale.
The center is built in the parking lot of Kohinoor Square Tower in Dadar.
With the establishment of this center, the PwD will be able to go to the vaccination center.
This center provides transport facility to vaccinate people who do not have their own vehicle.

Justice Geeta Mittal honored with the Arline Patch Global Vision Award

Former Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Justice Geeta Mittal has been awarded the prestigious Arline Patch Global Vision Award.
The award was presented at the biennial conference of the International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ) on May 7, 2021 during the virtual opening ceremony.
Geeta Mittal will share the honor with Justice Margarita Luna Ramos of Mexico.
The International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ) established the award in 2016.
Justice Mittal will be the first Indian judge to receive this award.
Geeta Mittal is the first woman to serve as the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court.

Currently, she is the chairperson of the Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (BCCC), an independent, self-regulatory body for general entertainment channels established by the Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF).
She is the first woman to hold this position.
