National Anti-Terrorism Day: 21 May
The sixth Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated on 21 May 1991.
After this, National Anti-Terrorism Day is celebrated on 21 May to commemorate his death anniversary.
Rajiv Gandhi’s 30th death anniversary is being celebrated this year.
He was the Prime Minister of the country from 1984 to 1989.
He was killed in a campaign in Tamil Nadu by a terrorist of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
International Tea Day: 21 May
Every year on May 21, International Tea Day is celebrated all over the world.
Previously, tea producing countries such as India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Kenya, Malaysia and Tanzania celebrated International Tea Day from 2005 to 15 December.
The United Nations General Assembly has designated May 21 as International Tea Day in October 2015 based on a resolution introduced by India to the FAO Intergovernmental Group on Tea (IGG).
Tea is a beverage made from the plant Camellia sinensis.
The largest producer of tea in the world is in China and Sri Lanka is the largest exporting country.
India is the second largest tea producing country after China.
Arjan Bhullar became the first Indian-origin fighter to win the MMA title
Indian-origin Canadian fighter Arjan Singh Bhullar became the first Indian-origin fighter to win the world title at the top-level Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) promotion.
Bhullar defeated heavyweight Brandon Vera to become the heavyweight world champion at the One Championship in Singapore.
Bhullar won gold medals at the 2010 and 2012 Commonwealth Games.
He became the first Indian-origin freestyle wrestler to represent Canada at the Olympics in London in 2012.

West Bengal cabinet approved the formation of the Legislative Council
The West Bengal cabinet has approved the formation of the Legislative Council under the chairmanship of Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
It will now be sent to the Governor (Jagdeep Dhankhar) and after his approval it will be sent to the state assembly for necessary approval.
West Bengal currently has a 294-member Legislative Assembly but the state does not have a Legislative Council.
Earlier, there used to be a Legislative Council in West Bengal, but it was abolished by the United Front government in 1969.
Presently, there are legislative councils in six states Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
Legislative Council: The Legislative Council is a part of the Legislature.
This council is also called the Upper House.
It is established under Article 169 of the Indian Constitution.
Its members have a term of six years.

Kobe Bryant posthumously inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame
Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant is posthumously inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Bryant was an American professional basketball player who played as a shooting guard for the Los Angeles Lakers at the National Basketball Association (NBA).
In January 2020, 41-year-old Kobe Bryant died in a helicopter crash.
After cyclone ‘Touktae’ another super cyclone ‘Yaas’ will hit the Bay of Bengal
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the storm ‘Cyclone Yaas’ will hit the East-Central Bay of Bengal towards the northern part of the Andaman Islands during 23-24 May.
This time the storm ‘Yaas’ has been named by ‘Oman’.

Earlier, ‘Touktae’ cyclone has been named by Myanmar.

Thailand was named after the storm ‘Amfan’.
Cyclone: Low air pressure causes the hot air in the atmosphere to turn into a strong thunderstorm, which is called a ‘cyclone’.
The process of naming the storm began in 2004.

Delhi government announces compensation of Rs 50,000 for a family lost to a member from Covid 19
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has announced that 50 thousand rupees will be given to the families of those who died from Corona.
Apart from this, the family in which the earning person died due to corona, will be given a compensation of ₹ 50000 as well as a rupees 2500 per month pension.
He said that the government will also bear the expenses of education and upbringing of children who lost their parents in the corona epidemic. Such children will be given help of Rs 2500 till they reach the age of 25 years.
