World Tortoise Day is observed every year on 23 May to create awareness about the conservation of turtles worldwide.
The day was started in 2000 by American Tortoise Rescue.

Barcelona Team Won Women’s Champions League Trophy – 2021
The Barcelona team defeated Chelsea 4–0 to win the Women’s Champions League (WCL-2021) title for the first time.
The Barcelona Women’s team is Spain’s first club to win the WCL title.
Also Barcelona became the first team to win the Champions League trophy in both the Men’s and Women’s categories.
Jharkhand ranked first in Smart City Mission rankings
In the implementation of the Smart City Mission’s plans, Jharkhand has secured the first position among the 36 states and union territories of India.
Rajasthan is on second and Andhra Pradesh on third.
Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand has reached 12th position in terms of progress of the ongoing mission plans in 100 cities.
On the other hand, Delhi is at 11th position and Bihar at 27th position in the list of states and union territories.
In the list of cities, New Delhi Municipal Corporation is at 41st position and Bihar capital Patna is at 68th position.
The Smart Cities Mission was launched on 25 June 2015 by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.
Most cities in Tamil Nadu have been selected in the Smart City Mission.
No city in Jammu and Kashmir has been selected in the project till date.
Microsoft’s Internet Explorer will retire from June 15, 2022
Renowned tech company Microsoft has announced the closure of its popular web browser Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer (IE) browser was launched in 1995 with Window 95.
The company is encouraging users to use the ‘Microsoft Edge’ Internet browser instead.
Which is much faster, safer and according to the needs of modern times.
It will be given technical support by Microsoft at least until the year 2029.

Narendra Batra again became the President of International Hockey Federation (FIH)
Narendra Batra has been elected as the president for the second consecutive term during the 47th Congress of the International Hockey Federation (FIH), the global body of hockey.
He defeated his rival, Belgium Hockey Federation chief Mark Codrone, by two votes.
He will hold office until 2024 as FIH has reduced the tenure from four to three years.

India to host FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022
The FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup will be held in India from 11 to 30 October 2022.
This will be the second FIFA tournament to be held in India, before India successfully organized the 2017 Men’s Under-17 Football World Cup.
This seventh season of FIFA will be played in five cities in India, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Guwahati, Ahmedabad and Navi Mumbai.
The FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup was originally scheduled to be held in India from 2 to 21 November in 2020, but was postponed until 2021 due to the Corona epidemic.
It was then announced from 17 February to 7 March 2021 but was canceled once again due to the coronavirus epidemic.
The FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup will be played from 10 to 28 August in 2022 ‘Costa Rica’.
The Women’s Football World Cup 2023 will be played in Australia and New Zealand.

The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has designed an antibody detection kit.
It is named ‘DIPCOVAN’.
Through this SARS-CoV-2 virus as well as nucleocapsid (S&N) proteins can also be detected with high sensitivity of 97% and specificity of 99%.

Former NSG chief JK Dutt passed away, commandos led during 26/11 terrorist attack
Former Director General of National Security Guard (NSG) JK Dutt, who led the commandos during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, passed away.
Dutt led the ‘Operation Black Tornado’ in the 2008 Mumbai terror attack.
He was a 1971 batch IPS officer of Bengal cadre.
