Balbir Singh will be named after Senior Mohali Hockey Stadium
The Punjab Government announced the name of the Mohali International Hockey Stadium in the name of famous hockey player and Padmashree Balbir Singh Senior.
Now this stadium will go from ‘Olympian Balbir Singh Senior Hockey International Stadium’.
Balbir Singh London (1948), Helsinki (1952) and Melbourne (1956) were part of the Indian team to win gold in the Olympics.
He was given Padmashree in 1957.
He was the first player who got this honor.
In 1975, the only Hockey was the manager of the Indian team winning World Cup.
The Punjab government was awarded Balbir Singh to Maharaja Ranjit Singh Award in 2019.

IPS Subodh Kumar Jaiswal becomes new CBI Director
Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, a 1985 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, has been appointed as the new director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for the next two years.
Currently Jaiswal is the Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
Subodh Jaiswal was awarded the President’s Police Medal in 2009 for his distinguished service.

Dr. D. Nageswara won the Rudolf Schindler Award
Dr. D. Nageswara Reddy, President of AIG Hospitals and awarded the Padma Bhushan Award, has won the Rudolf V. Schindler Award from the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE).
With this, Dr. Reddy became the first Indian physician to win this award.
The Rudolf V Schindler Award is the highest class at the prestigious Crystal Awards
Named after Dr. Schindler, considered the “father of gastroscopy”.
‘Gastroscopy’ is a medical examination related to the stomach, performed by an ‘endoscope’ machine.

The central government has approved the opening of a new consulate in the city of Adddu this year to boost India’s diplomatic presence in the Maldives.

Former Indian boxing team coach and first Dronacharya Award winner OP Bhardwaj passed away
India’s first Dronacharya Award winner OP Bhardwaj, former coach of the boxing team, has passed away.
Bhardwaj was awarded this highest award given to coaches along with Balachandra Bhaskar Bhagwat (wrestling) and OM Nambiar (athletics) when the Dronacharya Award was introduced in 1985.
He was the national boxing coach of India from 1968 to 1989.
Nobel laureate Amartya Sen was awarded Spain’s highest award in the field of social science
Indian economist and Nobel Prize winner Amartya Sen has been honored with Spain’s highest award “Princess of Asturias Award” in the field of social sciences.
Amartya Sen was selected for his most famous work “Poverty and Famines”.
The prize consists of a statue of Joan Miró and 50,000 euros in cash.
In the field of social science, the Princess of Asturias Award is given for research work in history, law, language, teaching, political science, sociology, philosophy, geography, economics etc.
Amartya Sen was awarded the Nobel Prize in the field of Economics in 1998 and the Bharat Ratna in 1999.
In June 2020, Amartya Sen was awarded the German Book Trade’s Peace Prize 2020.
Singapore is the largest FDI investor for India in the financial year 2020-21
According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the country has increased by 19% to $ 81.72 billion (about Rs 5.88 lakh crore) during 2020-21.
This is 10% higher than the previous financial year 2019-20 (US $ 74.39 billion). .

India-Israel sign 3-year program for cooperation in agriculture
The governments of India and Israel have signed a three-year joint program by the year 2023 with an aim to increase cooperation in the field of agriculture.
Under the program, 13 Centers of Excellence (CoE) were set up to make Indian farmers aware of Israeli farm and water technologies.
India and Israel began bilateral relations in the agricultural sector in 1993.
This is the 5th India-Israel Agricultural Action Plan (IIAP).

NASA announces sending its first mobile robot “VIPER” to search for water on the moon
The US space agency NASA has announced the sending of its first mobile robot to the moon in 2023.
NASA has named it “Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover” mission.
VIPER is powered by solar energy.
And the aim is to find ice and other natural resources inside the lunar surface.

Yuan Longping, China’s ‘father of hybrid rice’ passed away
Chinese agricultural scientist Yuan Longping, who is considered the “father of hybrid rice”, has passed away.
He was known for developing the first hybrid rice varieties in the 1970s.
In 2004, he was awarded the World Food Prize, which is known as the Nobel Prize for Agriculture.
