The World Health Organization (WHO) has named the variants B.1.617.1 and B.1.617.2 of the corona first identified in India as ‘Kappa’ and ‘Delta’ respectively.
Kappa and Delta are letters of the Greek alphabet.

Lt Gen Pradeep Chandran Nair took over as the 21st Director General of the Assam Rifles in place of Lt Gen Sukhdeep Sangwan.
Assam Rifles (AR): The Assam Rifles was formed in 1835 under the name Cachar Levy.
It is the oldest police force in the country.
In 1971 it was renamed as Assam Rifles.
This force is called the ‘Sentinel of the Northeast’ and the ‘Friend of the hill people’.

Vikram Sampath wrote the book ‘Savarkar: A Contested Legacy (1924-1966)’
Historian and author Vikram Sampat has written the second and concluding volume of the book on the life and works of Veer Savarkar titled “Savarkar: A Contested Legacy (1924–1966)”.
Penguin will be released by Random House India on the 138th birth anniversary of Veer Savarkar.
The first volume of the book, “Savarkar: Echoes from a Forgotten Past” was released in 2019.

The smart window material has been developed by Dr. Debabrata Sikdar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering at IIT Guwahati along with his research scholar Ashish Kumar Choudhary.

Government announced a scheme to give pension for the dependents of those who lost their lives from Corona
The Central Government announced to provide many other facilities including pension to the dependents of those who lost their lives due to Corona.
Dependent members under Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) will get a pension equal to 90% of the average daily wage.
This benefit will be applicable from 24 March 2020 to 24 March 2022.
The maximum amount received under the Employees‘ Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme (EDLI) has been increased from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 7 lakh, while the minimum amount will be Rs 2.5 lakh.
This scheme will be applicable for the next three years (15 February 2022) from 15 February 2020.
