Theme of World Accreditation Day 2021: “Accreditation: Supporting the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”
In India, this day is celebrated by the Quality Council of India.
In addition, webinars are organized by the National Accreditation Board of Certification Body (NABCB) and the National Testing and Calibration Laboratory Accreditation Board (NABL).

United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration: 2021-2030

In March 2019, the United Nations General Assembly declared the years 2021–30 as the ‘UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration’.
The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) are its co-leaders.
‘Ecosystem restoration’ means reviving damaged or destroyed ecosystems.
It also includes the protection of those ecosystems, which are on the verge of destruction.

Director General of Air Operations Air Marshal “Ballabh Radhakrishna” will replace Chowdhury in the Western Command in Delhi.
While Air Marshal RJ Duckworth will take charge of Central Air Command in Prayagraj.

Anoop Chandra Pandey, a retired IAS officer of 1984 batch of Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as the Election Commissioner.
He has also been the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh.
Sunil Arora’s term as Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) ended on 12 April.
Since then one post of Election Commissioner was vacant.
Now Anup Chandra Pandey will join the apex executive body along with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sushil Chandra and Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar.

Himachal Pradesh has secured the third position in the ranking of Anemia Free India Index 2020-21 with a score of 57.1.
Himachal was ranked 18th in the Anemia Free India Index 2018-19.
This time with the improvement in the ranking, Himachal Pradesh has become one of the leading states across the country.

Anemia means lack of blood in the body.
It occurs when the rate of destruction of red particles or cells in the body’s blood is greater than the rate of their formation.

In India, about 50% of pregnant women, 59% of children under the age of five, 54% of adolescent girls and 53% of non-pregnant non-lactating women are anemic.


Oman to host FIH Hockey5s World Cup 2024

Oman will host the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Hockey Five World Cup (men’s and women’s) in January 2024.
The matches will be played in Muscat, the capital of Oman, in January 2024.
In the first World Cup, 16-16 teams will take part in both men’s and women’s categories.
