World Day Against Child Labor: 12 June
Every year 12 June is celebrated worldwide by the International Labor Organization (ILO) as the World Day for the Prohibition of Child Labor.
The purpose of celebrating this day is to make children below the age of 14 years aware of not doing labor and getting them educated and moving forward.

Zimbabwean writer Tsitsi Dangrembga wins Pen Pinter Prize 2021
Zimbabwean author Tsitsie Dangrembga has been awarded the Pinter Prize 2021 for her book “ability to capture and communicate vital truths even amidst times of upheaval”.
Dangrembaga’s book “This Mournable Body” has been shortlisted for the Booker Prize in the year 2020.
The Penn Pinter Prize, named after Nobel Literary Laureate Harald Pinter, has been established in 2009.

CS Ghosh reappointed for three years as MD and CEO of Bandhan Bank
The Reserve Bank of India has approved the reappointment of Chandrashekhar Ghosh as the MD and CEO of Bandhan Bank.
The appointment has been made for a period of three years.

Haryana CM announces setting up of ‘Oxy One’ in Karnal
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced the creation of 80 acres of ‘oxy-van’ (a forest) in Karnal district on the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5, 2021.
There will be 10 types of forests in ‘Oxy Forest’.
On this occasion, the Haryana Government launched four important schemes:
1. Pran Vayu Devta Pension Scheme – Under this scheme, a pension amount of Rs 2500 will be provided in the name of Pran Vayu Devta for the maintenance of trees above 75 years.
2. Oxy One in Karnal
3. Oxy-One in Panchkula
4. Panchavati Plantation in Haryana
Chris Broad will be the referee of the World Test Championship (WTC) match
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the name of the match officials for the World Test Championship (WTC) final.
In which Chris Broad has been appointed as the referee for the final match between India and New Zealand.
England’s Richard Illingworth and Michael Gough will be the umpires.
This match will be played between India and New Zealand in Southampton from 18 to 22 June.

Debbie Hewitt became the first female head of the England Football Association
Debbie Hewitt has been appointed as the first female president of the 158-year-old Football Association, England.
She will join the England FA in January, 14 months after the resignation of former president Greg Clarke.

Distinguished neurologist and Padma Shri awardee Dr. Ashok Panagariya passed away.
Dr. Ashok Panagariya was an Honorary Neurologist of the Indian Defense Forces.
He was also the chairman of an NGO named ‘Disha’.
He was the recipient of India’s highest award in the field of medicine, Dr. B.C. Roy award.
He was awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award, by the Government of India in 2014.
The Government of Rajasthan honored him with the Merit Award in 1992.
Apart from this, he was also honored with the UNESCO Award for his contribution in the medical field.
While the Times of India honored him with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
UNSC recommends re-appointment of Antonio Guterres as UN Secretary-General
The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) recommended the name of Secretary-General Antonio Guterres (Portugal) for a second term of five years as the head of the United Nations.
The new term will start from January 1, 2022.
72-year-old Antonio Guterres has been serving as the Secretary-General of the United Nations since 2017.

He broke the record of former batsman Alastair Cook, who represented England in 161 international Test matches
Anderson has played 162 test matches.
James Anderson is the fourth highest wicket-taker behind Muttiah Muralitharan (Sri Lanka) with 800, Shane Warne (Aus) 708 and Anil Kumble (India) 619.
