World Humanist Day: 21 June
World Humanitarian Day is celebrated every year on 21 June across the world.
The day aims to spread awareness about humanism as a philosophical life stance and to effect change in the world.
The day is being organized by the International Humanitarian and Ethical Union (IHEU) since 1980.

Indian-American chemist Sumita Mitra has been awarded the European Inventor Award 2021 in the category ‘Non-European Patent Office Countries’.
She was the first to successfully integrate nanotechnology into dental materials, and has invented strong, durable and aesthetically pleasing dental fillings.
Ibrahim Raisi appointed new President of Iran
Ibrahim Raisi has got a big victory in the results of Iran’s presidential election.
In which Raisi got 62% of the votes with almost 90% of the ballots counted.
He will replace current President Hassan Rouhani.
Ibrahim Raisi is also the Chief Justice of Iran since March 2019.

World’s third largest diamond found in African country Botswana
The world’s third largest diamond has been found in the South African country of Botswana.
A 1,098-carat diamond has been discovered in Botswana by the Botswana diamond company Debswana, a joint venture between the Government of Botswana and the South African diamond company De Beers.
The world’s largest diamond (the Cullinan stone) was found in South Africa in 1905 at 3,106 carats.
Then there is the 1,109-carat Lacedy La Rona, discovered by Lukara Diamonds in Botswana in 2015.
Botswana is the largest diamond producer in Africa.
Russia is the largest producer of diamonds.

India becomes 5th largest recipient of FDI in 2020: UN report
According to the World Investment Report 2021 by United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), India has become the fifth largest recipient of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the world in 2020.
The country received FDI worth USD 64 billion in 2020, a 27% increase from 2019.
India’s FDI in 2019 was US$51 billion.
