DRDO successfully test-fires subsonic cruise nuclear missile ‘Nirbhay’
Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) successfully test-fired the subsonic cruise missile ‘Nirbhay’ from an Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Balasore, Odisha on June 24, 2021.
India’s Nirbhay missile is compared to America’s Tomahawk and Pakistan’s Babar missile.
The trial of ‘Nirbhay’ took place on 12 March 2013.

Will Smith announces the publication of his autobiography ‘Will’
The American actor, filmmaker and rapper Will Smith, published the title and cover of his autobiography “Will”.
Mark Manson is the co-author of this book.
The cover is designed by New Orleans artist Brandon “BeMike” Odoms.
Titled ‘Will’, the film will be published on November 9.
Sajan Prakash becomes first Indian swimmer to qualify for Tokyo Olympics
Sajan Prakash of Kerala has become the first Indian swimmer to qualify for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
He clocked 1 minute 56.38 seconds in the men’s 200m butterfly in Rome, Italy, against the time limit of 1 minute 56.48 seconds set for qualifying for the Olympics.
The Olympic Games in Tokyo will run from 23 July 2021 to 08 August 2021.
This is the second time that Japan is hosting the Olympics.

India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier ‘INS Vikrant’ to be commissioned in 2022
India’s first indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC) ‘INS Vikrant’ will be commissioned in 2022, according to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
‘INS Vikrant’ is being built by the Cochin Shipyard in Kochi, Kerala for the Indian Navy.
This will be the first aircraft carrier to be built in India.
This indigenous aircraft carrier has been named ‘Vikrant’ after the first decommissioned carrier of the Navy.

John McAfee was found dead in his prison cell in Spain, where he had been for tax evasion since October 2020.

Goa has become the first rabies free state in India.
The ‘Mission Rabies Project‘ was also started to control rabies in Goa.
According to Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, no case of rabies has been reported in the state in the last 3 years.
Rabies is a viral disease that is transmitted to people through the saliva of infected animals.
Rabies is spread by lysavirus.

World’s first genetically modified rubber plant set up in Assam
The world’s first genetically modified rubber plant has been set up at the Rubber Board’s Sarutari research farm on the outskirts of Guwahati in Assam.
This GM rubber was developed in the Biotechnology Laboratory at the Indian Rubber Research Institute at Puthupalli, Kottayam, Kerala.
World’s largest rubber producing country: Thailand
Thailand is followed by Indonesia and China.
India is the fourth largest rubber producer in the world.
The state of Kerala in India is the largest producer of rubber.
