Air Marshal Vivek Ram Choudhary has become the new Vice Chief of the Air Staff of the country.
He assumed his position on 01 July 2021.
He replaced Air Marshal Harjit Singh Arora.

Asia’s longest high speed track inaugurated in India
The Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Prakash Javadekar has virtually inaugurated the National Automotive Test Tracks (NATRAX) High-Speed Track (HST) located at Pithampur, Indore.
This track is the longest track in Asia, while it is the fifth longest track in the world.
The length of the track is 11.3 km which has been developed over an area of 1000 acres of land.
NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant gets one year extension
NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Amitabh Kant has been given an extension of one year till 30 June 2022.
This is the third time Kant’s tenure has been extended.
Amitabh Kant was appointed as the CEO of NITI Aayog on 17 February 20216 for a two-year term.
The extension was given for the first time till 30 June 2019.
He was then given an extension of two years till June 30, 2021.

Britain bans junk food advertisements on TV during the day
The UK government has decided to ban the airing of junk food advertisements on TV from 5:30 am to 9 pm.
Along with this, the ban will also be applicable on online medium.
These rules related to junk food advertisements will be applicable from 2022.
This ban has been imposed with the objective of “minimizing exposure of children to harmful food”.

JSCA, SAIL-BSL sign agreement for third international cricket stadium in Jharkhand
Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) signed a land lease agreement with Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) to build an international cricket stadium.
Once the stadium is ready, Jharkhand will be the first state in the country to have three international cricket stadiums.
With this, it will be the first international cricket stadium to be built in the township of SAIL.

WHO declares China malaria free
The World Health Organization (WHO) has certified China as malaria-free after 70 years of effort.
China is the first country in the WHO Western Pacific to be awarded malaria-free certification in more than three decades.
Other countries in the region that have achieved this status include Australia (1981), Singapore (1982) and Brunei Darussalam (1987).
Globally, 40 countries and territories have been granted malaria-free certification from WHO – most recently, El Salvador (2021), Algeria (2019), Argentina (2019), Paraguay (2018) and Uzbekistan (2018).
