Central government announced 27% reservation for OBC, 10% reservation for EWS in medical courses

The Central Government has announced 27% reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBC) and 10% for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) under the All India Quota (AIQ) scheme in undergraduate and post graduate medical and dental courses. .
All India Quota (AIQ) Scheme: was introduced in the year 1986 to provide domicile-free merit based opportunity to the students of any state to study in a medical college of another state.
AIQ covers 15% of total UG seats and 50% reservation of PG seats in government medical colleges.

Pakistan’s 19-year-old mountaineer Shehrooz Kashif has become the youngest mountaineer in the world to climb the K2 mountain.
K2 mountain is
the second highest mountain in the world with a height of 8,611 meters.
Known as K2 because of its location in the Karakoram ranges of Kashmir.
Mount K2 is also known as ‘Mount Godwin-Austin’.

Meera Kasari of North Carolina finished third.

Satpura Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh has been given the ‘Natwest Group Earth Heroes’ award in the Earth Guardian category.
Satpura Tiger Reserve is located in Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh.
It was established in the year 2000.
Recently Satpura Tiger Reserve has been included in the probable list of World Heritage along with 6 sites of India.

The book ‘China Room’ by Indian-origin British novelist Sanjeev Sahota has been included in the list of 13 contenders for this year’s Booker Prize.
He had previously featured in the 2015 Booker Prize contenders for his book “The Year of the Runaways”.
