The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has decided to observe August 7 as “Javelin Throwing Day” to honor Neeraj Chopra.
Neeraj Chopra of Haryana became the first athletics player from India to win a gold medal in the men’s javelin throw event at the Tokyo Olympics on 7 August 2021.
Also Neeraj is India’s second gold medalist in individual Olympic event after Abhinav Bindra.
