National Safe Maternity Day: April 11
National Safe Motherhood Day is celebrated every year on April 11 in the country on the birthday of Kasturba Gandhi, wife of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.
It is an initiative of White Ribbon Alliance India (WRAI). The objective of which is to take proper care of the health of pregnant women and spread awareness about childbirth.
The National Safe Motherhood Day was announced by the Government of India on 11 April 2003.
White Ribbon Alliance India (WRAI) was formed in the year 1999.
Teeka Utsav: 11 April to 14 April
On 11 April (Jyotiba Phule), Teeka Utsav started across the country on the instructions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The festival will be held for 4 days (14 April – Ambedkar Jayanti).
It aims to immunize maximum eligible beneficiaries.
Currently COVAXIN and COVISHIELD are the two major COVID-19 vaccines being introduced in India.
World Parkinson’s Day: April 11
‘World Parkinson’s Day’ is celebrated every year on 11 April on the birthday of Dr James Parkinson of London.
Perkins disease affects mainly the nervous system.

Odisha Government Launches “Mask Campaign”
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has recently launched a “Mask Campaign” to stop the spread of COVID-19.
This campaign will run for 14 days.
The Odisha state government has increased the fine amount to be imposed from Rs 1000 to Rs 2000 if the mask is not captured.

The book, titled “Akhtari: The Life and Music of Begum Akhtar” originally written in Hindi, is now available in English, edited by Yatindra Mishra and published by Harper Collins India.

Lieutenant Colonel Bharat Pannu broke 2 Guinness World Records
Lieutenant Colonel Bharat Pannu of the Indian Army recorded two world records in the ‘Guinness Book of World Records’ for fastest single cycling.
He made his first record on 10 October 2020.
In which he covered a distance of 472 km between Leh to Manali in 35 hours and 25 minutes.
After this, Pannu completed the journey in 14 days, 23 hours and 52 minutes on a 5,942 km long golden quadrilateral path connecting Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and made a second record.
Former Indian hockey coach Harendra Singh became the head coach of the American men’s team
Former India hockey player Harendra Singh has been appointed as the new head coach of the American men’s team.
He was awarded the Dronacharya Award in the year 2012.
Harendra was the coach of the senior Indian men’s hockey team from 2017 to 2018.
The 2023 Men’s Hockey World Cup will be held from 13 to 29 January 2023 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar and the Biju Patnaik Hockey Stadium in Rourkela, India.
India will host the Hockey World Cup for the fourth time.

Report released by IMF: India’s debt to GDP ratio increased from 74% to 90%
According to the report released by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), India’s debt to GDP ratio has increased from 74% to 90% during the Covid-19 epidemic, which will increase to 99% in 2021.
The IMF has also said that it will come down to 80% after the economic recovery.
GDP Debt Ratio: Debt-GDP ratio or public debt ratio refers to a country’s ability to repay its debt.
The higher the debt-GDP ratio of a country, the more difficulties it has to repay its public debt.
India’s GDP ratio had remained 70% since the year 1991.

3 HIV positive for every 1000 pregnant women in Meghalaya
The Legislative Assembly Committee on Women Empowerment submitted its report to the Government of Meghalaya.
According to the report, 3 out of 1000 pregnant women in the state tested positive for HIV.
This committee was headed by Ampren Lyngdoh.
