The United Nations General Assembly on 18 December 2014 decided to observe this day annually on 15 July to raise awareness about the importance of investing in the skill development of youth.

Himalayan yak to be insured for the first time
The ‘National Research Center for Yak’ (NRCY) located at Dirang in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh has tied up with National Insurance Company Limited to insure high altitude yaks.
The ‘National Yak Research Center’ was established in 1989.
Yaks belong to the Bovini tribe, which also includes bison, buffalo and cattle.
It can tolerate temperatures up to -40 °C.
The largest population of yak is in Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir.
The total population of yak in India is about 58,000.
Khelo India Youth Games 2022 will be organized in Haryana
The Khelo India Youth Games will be organized in Haryana in February 2022.
The Games were to be organized in Haryana in November this year but the state government has now decided to organize it in February next year in view of the third wave of Covid-19.
The Khelo India Youth Games are to be held in the Under-18 category.

Khelo India Youth Game was launched by Sports Minister Col Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore in the year 2018.
Indian Navy gets tenth ‘P-8I’ warplane from Boeing
The Indian Navy has received the 10th anti-submarine warfare aircraft ‘P-8I’ from American aerospace company ‘Boeing’.
The contract for eight P-8I aircraft was signed in 2009 by the Ministry of Defense.
In 2016 signed a contract for four additional P-8I aircraft.

ICCR to set up ‘Bangabandhu Peeth’ in Delhi University
The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) will set up ‘Bangabandhu Peeth’ at the University of Delhi.
The bench will be established in honor of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangladesh, and to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh’s Liberation War, along with diplomatic relations between India and Bangladesh.
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the first President and later Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
He was awarded the title of ‘Bangabandhu’.
Bangladesh was formed on 16 December 1971.
Government increased DA of central employees from 17% to 28%
The Central Government has approved to increase Dearness Allowance (DA) to employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners to 28% with effect from July 01, 2021.
Which was getting till now at the rate of 17%.
That is, the central government employees will now get 11% more dearness allowance.
India’s first National Dolphin Research Center to be set up in Patna
National Dolphin Research Center will soon be established in Patna, the capital of Bihar.
This will be the first National Dolphin Research Center in India and Asia
The Gangetic dolphin is the national aquatic animal of India.
Its scientific name is Platanista gangetica.
It is one of four freshwater dolphins in the world.
