According to which India has slipped 12 places to 55th position.
India was ranked 43rd in this index during the first quarter of 2020.

Ministry of AYUSH launches ‘Namaste Yoga’ mobile app

During an event for the 7th International Day of Yoga (IDY), a mobile application named “Namaste Yoga” was launched by the Ministry of AYUSH.
The program was organized by the Ministry of AYUSH in association with Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY).
The program underlined the importance of ‘Stay with Yoga, Stay at Home’ as the central theme of International Yoga Day-2021.

According to the Reserve Bank of India data, the country’s foreign exchange reserves increased by $ 6.842 billion to a record high of $ 605.008 billion in the week ended June 4, 2021.
It has crossed $600 billion for the first time.

India’s Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) grew by 10% during 2020-21.

Independent India’s first Olympian Surat Singh Mathur passed away

Surat Singh Mathur, the first Olympian of independent India, who won the 1951 Asian Games marathon bronze medal for India, passed away.
Mathur was the first athlete from independent India to run the Olympic marathon in the 1952 Helsinki Games.
Chhota Singh was the first sprinter from independent India to compete in the Olympic Marathon event at the 1948 London Games.
But he could not finish the race.
Mathur completed the marathon in 2 hours 58 minutes 9.2 seconds.
He was ranked 52nd.
