Union Minister Nitin Gadkari launches AI powered road safety project ‘IRASTE’

Union Road Transport Minister, Nitin Gadkari has launched the artificial intelligence (AI) driven road safety project ‘IRASTE (Intelligent Solutions for Road Safety through Technology and Engineering)’.
The aim of which is to increase road safety and reduce mortality.
The project has been taken up on a pilot basis in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

World Ozone Day is celebrated every year on 16 September for the protection of the ozone layer.
Theme of World Ozone Day 2021: “Montreal Protocol – Keeping us, our food and vaccines cool Montreal Protocol – keeping us, our food and vaccines cool”
World Ozone Day was first observed on 16 September 1995.
The ozone layer was discovered in 1913 by Charles and Henri Busson.
The ozone layer is found in the Earth’s stratosphere at an altitude of about 10 km to 50 km above the Earth’s surface.

Gujarat’s nurse Bhanumati Ghiwala to be given the ‘National Florence Nightingale Award’ 2021

Bhanumati Ghiwala, a nurse at Sir Sayajirao General Hospital, Gujarat, will be honored with the ‘National Florence Nightingale Award’ 2021.
In 2019, for doing continuous duty during floods and taking care of COVID-19 positive pregnant women during Corona period.
Florence Nightingale:

  • Florence Nightingale is considered the mother of the modern nursing movement.
  • She is popularly known as “The Lady with the Lamp”.
  • She was the first woman to be given the Order of Merit in 1907.
  • Sarojini Naidu, the first woman governor of Uttar Pradesh, India, is popularly known as the ‘Nightingale of India’.
  • The WHO declared the year 2020 as the ‘Year of Nurse and Midwife’ to commemorate the 200th birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale.

Haryana tops in installation of solar pumps under PM-KUSUM

Haryana has secured the first position in the country in the installation of off-grid solar pumps under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha and Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) scheme.
Haryana has installed 14,418 pumps against the sanctioned 15,000 pumps for the year 2020-21.
PM-KUSUM scheme was launched in the year 2019.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the ‘Quad (Quadrangle Security Dialogue- QUAD) Summit’ to be held at the White House on 24 September 2021.
US President Joe Biden, Australian PM Scott Morrison and Japan PM Yoshihide Suga will also participate in this conference.
Apart from this, PM Modi will also address the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York on 25 September.
Quad Countries: The Quad countries include India, America, Japan, and Australia.

M Venugopal, appointed as new Acting Chairman of National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT)

Justice M Venugopal has been appointed as the new Acting Chairperson of the Appellate Tribunal, the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT).
This is the third time in a row that an acting president is at the helm of the NCLAT after the retirement of NCLAT permanent chairman Justice S J Mukhopadhyay in 2020.

Mobile X-ray container scanning system installed by Paradip port to increase import-export trade

Odisha-based Paradip Port Trust has installed a Mobile X-ray Container Scanning System (MXCS) to enhance the import-export trade.
With this system, the process of manual inspection of containers will now be reduced.
In addition, the storage time of containers will also be reduced.
