National Panchayati Raj Day: 24 April
Every year on April 24, Panchayati Raj Day is celebrated in the country.
The first National Panchayati Raj Day was celebrated in April 2010.
The day is celebrated to commemorate the passage of the 73rd Amendment Act 1992 of the Indian Constitution. Which came into force on 24 April 1993.
Part-9 and 11th schedule were added to the Constitution by this Constitution Amendment Act.
Kate Shanider of Ireland became Mrs. World 2020
Kate Schneider from Ireland has been declared ‘Mrs World’ 2020 in a married women’s beauty pageant.
Kate Shanider was second in the competition and Sri Lankan Pushpika De Silva was ranked first but the jury claimed that she was ineligible to join the competition as she was divorced.
The title was then passed on to Kate Schneider.
WEF Global Energy Transition Index 2021
India has been ranked 87 out of 115 countries in the Energy Transition Index (ETI) 2021 released by the World Economic Forum-WEF.
This index has been prepared in collaboration with Accenture.

GC Murmu selected as external auditor for OPCW
Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) G.C. Murmu has been selected as an external auditor of the Chemical Weapons Prohibition Organization (OPCW – Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons).
This appointment has been made for three years starting from 2021.
The Chemical Weapons Prohibition Organization (OPCW) is a United Nations-backed organization that works to destroy and prevent chemical weapons worldwide.
The 2013 Peace Prize was awarded to this institution by the Nobel Peace Prize Committee.

India Ratings reduce India’s GDP growth estimate to 10.1%
India Ratings and Research has projected India’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth for FY 2021-22 to be down to 10.1% from 10.4%.
SBI Research has also lowered growth forecasts for the current financial year from 11% to 10.4%.
Famous Islamic scholar Maulana Waheeduddin passed away
Famous Islamic scholar and writer Maulana Waheeduddin Khan passed away at the age of 96 due to Covid-19.
In the year 2000, Waheeduddin Khan was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest award.
Then he was also honored with the Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award in 2009 and Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest award in 2021.
‘Garia Puja’ festival celebrated in Tripura
Garia Puja is a major festival of Tripura.
According to the Hindu calendar, this festival is held from the last day of Chaitra month to the 7th day of Vaishakh month.
The Tripuri and Reang tribes celebrate it as a harvest festival.
In this festival, a bamboo pole is worshiped with flowers and garlands which symbolize the god Garia.
