World Immunity Week 2021: 24 to 30 April
Every year the last week of April is celebrated as ‘World Immunization Week’. This year ‘World Vaccination Week’ is being celebrated between 24 April to 30 April. Its main objective is to promote and encourage the use of vaccines for protection from diseases of people of all ages.
Theme of World Vaccination Week 2021: “Vaccines bring us closer (Vaccines bring us closer)”
Smallpox was the first disease in the world to be diagnosed with a vaccine.
In 1976, the British physician Edward Jenner invented the smallpox vaccine.
National Panchayati Awards 2021
On the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day (24 April), Prime Minister Narendra Modi transferred the amount (in the form of grant) from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 50 lakh to the virtual National Panchayat Award 2021 winners.

Haryana Launches ‘Harihar Policy’ for Rehabilitation of Abandoned Children
The Haryana Cabinet has approved the HARIHAR- Homeless Abandoned and Surrendered Children Rehabilitation Initiative Haryana Policy.
Under this policy, abandoned children below the age of 5 years will be eligible for the benefit of education, employment and financial assistance up to 25 years of age or marriage.

Triple mutant variant of Covid 19
New mutants of corona virus have been detected in West Bengal.
Scientists have named this variant as ‘triple mutants’, whereas, it is also known as ‘Bengal strain‘ because most of its cases are being found in the state of West Bengal.
Mutations: When viruses keep changing their genetic structure continuously to keep themselves effective for a long time so that they cannot be killed.
In this process of mutation, the viruses become so strong that the vaccine neutralizes them.
Scientists have named the triple mutants as the B.1.618 variant.
Earlier, the double mutant corona virus had arrived, named B.1.617.
A ‘triple mutant variant’ is formed when three mutations of the virus combine to form a new variant.
The ‘triple mutant variant‘ is the second lineage of the SARS-CoV-2 virus identified in India.
19th Indo-French Naval Exercise ‘Varun-2021’
The 19th edition of the ‘Varun-2021’ bilateral exercise between the Indian and French Navy was held in the Arabian Sea.
The three-day exercise was held from 25 to 27 April 2021.
‘Varuna’ is a naval exercise held between India and France.
Which is organized every year.
This naval exercise was first started in 1983, although in 2001 it was renamed ‘Varuna’.
Supreme Court judge Justice Mohan M. Shantanagoudar passe away
Supreme Court Judge Justice Mohan M Shantanagoudar has passed away at the age of 62.
In February 2017, he was made a judge of the Supreme Court.
Where his tenure was till 5 May 2023.
Justice Shantanagoudar was appointed as Additional Judge of the Karnataka High Court on 12 May 2003 and in September 2004 he became a permanent Judge in the court.
He became the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court on September 22, 2016 before being elevated as a judge of the Supreme Court.

Prime Minister Modi distributed e-property cards under the ownership scheme
On 24 April 2021 (National Panchayati Raj Day), Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ‘Swami’ scheme and distributed e-property cards of his property among more than four lakh people under it.
Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas: Through this scheme, digital details of people’s property can be kept.
This will help reduce disputes over property.
It was launched on a pilot basis in 6 states, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh.
Punjab government ordered closure of iron and steel industry to save oxygen
Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh ordered closure of the state’s iron and steel industry and medical use of its oxygen due to lack of oxygen by several hospitals amid growing cases of corona virus infection.
