The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has approved the appointment of Arun Raste as the new MD and CEO of the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX), the country’s leading national commodity exchange.

Arun Raste is currently working as Executive Director in the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute – SIPRI has recently released its report “Military Expenditure Database”.
According to this report, the top military spending countries in the world are the United States, China and India.
Top five military spending countries:

India $ 72.9billion
Russia $ 61.7 billion
United Kingdom $ 59.2 billion

These five countries together account for 62% of global military expenditure.
The US spent 7% of its GDP on the military.
While India and China spent 9% and 1.7% respectively in their GDP.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia has launched ‘Vision-2030‘ to mold the country amid the changing global scenario, in which students are also taught the history and culture of other countries under cultural courses.
English language has also been made mandatory in the new Vision 2030.


ADB raises India’s GDP growth forecast to 11% in FY 2022

Also, it has projected GDP growth rate of up to 7% for the financial year 2022-23.

Shivalik Small Finance Bank started operations

Shivalik Small Finance Bank of the private sector changed operations from an urban co-operative bank to a small finance bank (SFB), which started operations on 26 April.
Shivalik Small Finance Bank is the 11th small finance bank in the country.
It is the first bank in the country to become a small finance bank from an urban co-operative bank.
Shivalik SFB has a total of 31 branches in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Gambia becomes the second African country to end Trachoma

The Gambia has recently become the second African country to end trachoma.
Ghana became the first African country to eliminate trachoma in 2018.
Trachoma is an eye disease caused by an infection with a bacterium called ‘Chlamydia trachomatis’.
It is also called Rohe disease.
India was relieved of trachoma in 2017.

Recently El Salvador is the first country in Central America to be certified malaria free by the World Health Organization.
