Ayushman India Day: 30 April

Ayushman Bharat Day is celebrated every year on 30 April in India.
Ayushman Bharat Diwas is celebrated to achieve two goals: to promote the health and well being of the poor and to provide them insurance benefits.
Ayushman Bharat Yojana (ABY) was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 30 April 2018.
It is the world’s largest health plan run by the central government.
This scheme is also called ‘Modi Care’ or ‘National Health Protection Scheme’.
Under this scheme, free health insurance facility of up to five lakh rupees is provided.

International Jazz Day is celebrated every year on 30 April.
The 10th anniversary of International Jazz Day is being celebrated in the year 2021.
Jazz is a musical genre of Western civilization.
UNESCO decided to celebrate a special day in 2011 as Jazz Day.
The day was started by Jazz pianist and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Herbie Hancock.


Kriti Karant becomes first Indian woman to receive ‘Wild Innovator Award’

Dr. Kriti K., Chief Conservation Scientist at the Center for Wildlife Studies (CWS), Bangalore. Karant has been selected for the ‘Wild Innovator Award’ 2021.
With this, she has become the first Indian and Asian woman to receive this award.


TV Somanathan appointed as new ‘Finance Secretary’

The central government has approved the appointment of TV Somanathan as the new finance secretary.
Presently he is the most senior officer among all secretaries in the Ministry of Finance.
He will replace Ajay Bhushan Pandey.
The Finance Secretary is the senior-most IAS officer of the Ministry of Finance of India who coordinates the work of various departments of the Ministry.
The one rupee note bears the signature of the Finance Secretary.

Vaishali S Hivase of Wardha Maharashtra has been appointed as the first woman commanding officer of the Border Roads Organization (BRO).
As Commanding Officer, he has been given the responsibility of providing further connectivity along the India-China border.

Dubai will host the Asian Boxing Championship 2021

The Asian Boxing Championships 2021 will be held in Dubai from 21 May to 1 June.

China Launches Robot Prototype ‘NEO-01’ Clear Space Debris

The Chinese government has launched a robot prototype called ‘NEO-01’ in low Earth orbit on its Long March 6 rocket that can remove debris or garbage left by other spacecraft with a large net.
The 30 kg robot prototype has been developed by Shenzhen-based space mining start-up ‘Origin Space’.


Famous writer of Odia and English Manoj Das passed away

Indian writer and educationist Manoj Das, a renowned writer of Odia and English, has passed away at the age of 87.
His first book was in Odia in a poem called ‘Satvadira Artanada’.
He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2001 and the Padma Bhushan in 2020.


IIT Madras Startup Builds India’s First ‘3D Printed House’

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) startup has created India’s first ‘3D printed house’.
Which was inaugurated by the Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman.
The single-storey house is built in just five days on an area of about 600 square feet using ‘concrete 3D printing’ technology.
It is built on the concept of former IIT-M students by TVASTA Manufacturing solutions.
