It was started in collaboration with the World Gastroenterology Organization (WGO) and the WGO Institute (WGOF).
The theme of World Digestive Health Day 2021 is “Obesity: An Ongoing Pandemic”.


Goa Foundation Day: 30 May

Goa celebrates its foundation day on 30 May every year.
On the same day, Goa was granted full state status on May 30, 1987, when Goa was declared the 25th state of India.
Daman and Diu were separated from Goa and administered as a union territory.
The state was liberated from the Portuguese by running ‘Operation Vijay’ on 19 December 1961.
Goa Mukti Divas’ is celebrated on 19 December to commemorate this.
Goa: Goa is the smallest state in India by area and the fourth smallest state by population.
Konkani is the official language of Goa.
It comes under the jurisdiction of the Mumbai High Court.
In the north, the Terekhol River flows, which separates Goa from Maharashtra.


World No Tobacco Day: 31 May

World No Tobacco Day is observed on 31 May every year to prevent people from consuming tobacco and to make them aware of the harm caused by it.
Theme of World Tobacco Prohibition Day 2021: “Committed to Quit”
This day was first celebrated by the World Health Organization on 7 April 1988.
But since then this day was celebrated every year on 31st May.


Kerala government announces new smart kitchen scheme

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced a secretary-level committee to prepare guidelines and recommendations on the implementation of the “Smart Kitchen Scheme” in the state.
The scheme will be launched by 10 July 2021.
Under this scheme, the women of the state will be given loans at low interest rate for renovation of kitchen.


Hong Kong’s Tsang Yin-hung became the fastest woman to climb Everest

Hong Kong’s 45-year-old Tsang Yin-hyung had reached Mount Everest (8,848.86 m) from the base camp in 25 hours and 50 minutes.
She became the fastest climber of this mountain range.
Earlier, the record for the fastest woman to climb Everest was held by Nepali Funjo Jhangmu Lama, who completed the climb in 39 hours and 6 minutes in 2018.
With this, Arthur Muiro (75 years old) has become the oldest person in America to conquer Everest.
Before Arthur Muir, this record was held by Bill Burke, who achieved this peak in 2009 at the age of 67.

NSA Ajit Doval commissioned Indian Coast Guard ship ‘Sajag’

Ajit Doval, the National Security Advisor (NSA), commissioned the Indian Coast Guard offshore patrol vessel ‘Sajag’ on 29 May 2021.
The ‘Sajag’ is the third ship in the series of 105th Offshore Patrol Ships (OPVs).
It has been designed and manufactured entirely indigenously by Goa Shipyard Limited in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision ‘Make in India’.

Ashok Kumar becomes the only Indian referee to wrestle at the Tokyo Olympics

Ashok Kumar will be the only referee in the country to officiate in the Tokyo Olympic Games wrestling matches.
He will be umpiring for the second consecutive Olympics.
He is also a United World Wrestling (UWW) referee’s teacher.
The Olympics to be held in Tokyo will be played from 23 July to 08 August.
The mascots of the games are named ‘Miriteova’ and ‘Someti’.
This time 5 new sports have been added to the Olympics – surfing, skateboarding, sports climbing, karate and baseball.
The Winter Olympics and Paralympics 2022 will be held in Beijing, China.

BVR Subramaniam appointed as Union Commerce Secretary

PM Modi announces assistance for orphaned children in Corona

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that all children who lost both parents or guardians due to corona will be assisted under the PM Cares for Children scheme.
Under the scheme, a monthly scholarship will be given to a child at the age of 18 years and a fund of Rs 10 lakh at the age of 23 years.
Children between 11 and 18 years of age will be given admission in any of the Central Government residential schools like Sainik School, Navodaya Vidyalaya etc.
Children under 10 years of age will be admitted as day scholars in a nearby central school or private school.
PM Cares will pay interest on the loan for the children for their higher education.
Under Ayushman Bharat, children up to 18 years of age will be given free health insurance of Rs 5 lakh and the premium will be paid by PM Cares.


India to launch mobile tech platform ‘UNITE AWARE’ for UN peacekeepers
