International Day of Charity: 05 September
International Day of Charity is celebrated by the United Nations on 05 September every year.
This day is celebrated on the death anniversary of Mother Teresa.
She died on 5 September 1997.
Mother Teresa: Mother Teresa was born on 26 August 1910 in Skopje, Macedonia.
Her real name was Agnes Gonza Boyajiju.
She took Indian citizenship in the year 1948.
Mother Teresa founded the ‘Missionaries of Charity’ (Kolkata) in 1950.
She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, in 1980.
India ranked 24th in Tokyo Paralympics 2020 with 19 medals (5 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze)
The Tokyo Paralympics 2020 was held from 24 August to 5 September 2021 in Tokyo, the capital of Japan.
India ranked 24th out of 162 countries.

Indian players put up a historic performance, winning a total of 19 medals (5 Gold, 8 Silver and 6 Bronze).
Earlier it was India’s best performance at the Rio Paralympics (2016), where India won a total of 4 medals.

National Teacher’s Day is celebrated in India on 05 September every year
This day is celebrated on 5th September, the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

Recently the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has increased the quota of Special Drawing Rights (SDR) for India.
IMF has increased the SDR quota for India to 12.57 billion (about US$ 17.86 billion).
Special Drawing Right (SDR): It is an alternative reserve currency for its member countries issued by the IMF in 1969.
Through this, member countries can freely conduct foreign exchange transactions among themselves.

India becomes world’s third largest unicorn ecosystem
Recently Hurun India Future Unicorn List 2021 has been released by Hurun Research Institute.
According to this list, India has become the third largest unicorn/startup ecosystem in the world.
At present there are a total of 51 unicorn startups in India.
The US (396 unicorn startups) topped the list.
China ranks second with 277 unicorn startups.
Unicorn: The term unicorn was first developed in 2013 by Ellen Lee, a world renowned venture capitalist.
Unicorns are said to be such initial private companies whose value is more than one billion dollars.
