Andhra Pradesh Governor Vishwa Bhushan Harichandan was awarded the ‘Kalinga Ratna’ award for his contribution to literature.
The award was presented to Governor Bishwa Bhusan Harichandan by M. Venkaiah Naidu, Vice President of India, during the 600th Birth Anniversary of Adikabi Sarala Das and 40th Annual Celebrations of Sarala Sahitya Sansad during the programme held at Sarala Bhawan
The award was instituted by the Sarla Sahitya Sansad in the year 2007.
The award carries a silver idol of Goddess Saraswati, a copper plaque and a shawl.

India’s largest floating solar power plant to be set up in Telangana
India’s largest 100 MW capacity floating solar power plant will be set up at Ramagundam in Telangana.
The project has been set up at a cost of Rs 423 crore.
This solar project will be commissioned by the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).
five day ‘Tulip Festival’ organized in Srinagar
The tulip festival was inaugurated by Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha on April 3, 2021 at Asia’s largest tulip garden at the foothills of the Jabbarwan hills on the banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar.
The festival will be held for five days (3 to 7 April).
The Tulip Garden was opened to the general public and tourists from March 25, 2021.
Japan’s Nobel Prize winner Isamu Akasaki passed away
Recently Japan’s Nobel laureate Isamu Akasaki has passed away.
He was the co-winner of the 2016 Nobel Prize in Physics. Gallium nitride (GaN) is known to produce p-n junction blue LEDs and even higher brightness LEDs.
He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2016 along with Hiroshi Amano and Shuji Nakamura.

International Sports Day for Development and Peace is celebrated on 6 April every year to bring awareness and development of sports.
On 23 August 2013, the United Nations General Assembly announced to celebrate April 6 every year as this day.
‘La Peroz’ Naval Exercise Begins in Bay of Bengal
France will conduct a three-day ‘La Peroz’ naval exercise in the Bay of Bengal. Other quad countries including India, Australia, Japan and the United States are participating in this exercise. The exercise will be held between 5 April to 7. April.
The P8I Long Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft along with Indian Navy ships INS Satpura and INS Kilton is participating in the exercise for the first time.
Aninyan Mithun Wins Gold Medal on South Asian Wushu Tour
Aninyan Mithun, 28, of Natika, Kerala, won a gold medal in the South Asian Wushu Championship.
He represented the country in the 70 kg category at the championship. He is the first Wushu player from Southern India to reach the Indian team.
The Championship was held in Nepal.
GST Collection March 2021
According to Finance Ministry data, the collection of Goods and Services Tax (GST) rose to a record high of Rs 1.23 lakh crore in March 2021, a 27% increase over March 2020.
Gross GST revenue stood at Rs 1,23,902 crore in March 2021, including Rs 22,973 crore for central GST, Rs 29,329 crore for state GST.
