World Health Day: 7 April

April 7 of each year marks the celebration of World Health Day with the aim of making people aware of health related problems.
The celebration was started in 1950 by the World Health Organization (WHO).

48th Chief Justice of India Justice NV Ramana appointed

President Ram Nath Kovind, Justice N.V. Ramna has been appointed as the 48th Chief Justice of India.
Justice Ramana will take charge as the next Chief Justice of India on 24 April 2021.
He will succeed Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde.
His term of office will remain till August 26, 2022.


TRIFED launches ‘Sankalp se Siddhi’ initiative

The Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED), operated under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, has recently launched the “Sankalp se Siddhi” initiative.

Amboli of Maharashtra declared as a biodiversity heritage site

The Maharashtra government has declared an area as a biodiversity heritage site in Amboli in Sindhudurg district of the Western Ghats. A rare freshwater fish species “Schistura hiranyakeshi” has been discovered in this area.
This fish is named after the Hiranyakeshi river near Amboli village.
This species was discovered in Sawantwadi tehsil of Sindhudurg district under the leadership of wildlife researcher Tejas Thackeray (son of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray).
