PM Modi released eighth installment of PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the eighth installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi on 14 May 2021.
Under this, Rs 19,000 crore will be transferred to the accounts of 9.5 crore farmer families.
The scheme was launched on 1 December 2018.
Under the PM Kisan Scheme, the central government gives 6,000 rupees every year to each farming family.
This amount is given in three equal installments of Rs 2,000.
After every 4 months this honor amount is directly transferred to the bank account of the farmers.
The scheme provides financial assistance to farmers who own land up to two hectares.

English-language renowned Indian writer Ruskin Bond has put forth a collection of his favorite 25 stories in a new book titled ‘All Time Favorite for Children’.
He will release the book on May 19 on his 87th birthday.
Ruskin Bond: Ruskin Bond was born on 19 May 1934 in Himachal Pradesh.
His first novel, The Room on the Roof, received the John Llewellyn Rice Memorial Award in 1957.
In 1999, the Government of India honored him with the Padma Shri for his contributions in the field of literature.
In 2014, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan.
He has been given the Sahitya Akademi Award for ‘Our Trees Still Grow in Dehra’.

Naklu Foam of Nagaland becomes first Indian to win Whitley Award 2021
Environmentalist ‘Nuklu Foam’ from Longleng district of Nagaland has been selected for the ‘Whitley Awards -2021’.
He is the only Indian to receive this award.
Nuklu Foam was given this award for the conservation of ‘Amur Falcon’ migratory bird.
Whitley Awards: The award is also known as the ‘Green Oscar’.
The award is presented by a UK-based charitable institution called ‘Whitley Fund for Nature’.
Under this award, the winners are awarded a sum of £ 40,000.
Amur Falcon: The ‘Amur Falcon’ is the world’s longest traveling predator, beginning its journey with the onset of winter.
They breed in northern China and Siberia.

Renowned mathematician MS Narasimhan passed away
Renowned Indian mathematician, Professor MS Narasimhan has passed away at the age of 88.
Professor Narasimhan, Along with CS Seshadri was well known for his proof of Narasimhan-Sheshadri theorem.
He is the only Indian to receive the King Faisal International Award in science.
